Add, remove, or share photos and videos

To improve Google Maps and share your favorite photos and videos, add them to Google Maps. You can add or remove them at any time. You can't add photos or videos to addresses or coordinates.

When you post photos, others can also find:

  • Your name that appears on your About me page
  • Other photos you added to Google Maps
  • Reviews you wrote on Google Maps
  • Location info on your photos and videos

Add photos or videos to Google Maps

You can add media like photos and videos for points of interest, like businesses or parks. You can't add media to addresses or coordinates. Learn more about photo updates of a place.

Tip: Sometimes you get suggestions for photos to add to Google Maps. Photo locations come from your Location History and the location info attached to your photos.

Add photos from "Contribute"

Tip: To get suggestions for photos to add to Google Maps, make sure you have the Google Photos app installed with back up & sync and Location History turned on. To remove a suggestion, tap Clear.

Add photos from a place's page

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app Maps .
  2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
  3. To see more info, at the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  4. Tap Add photos.
    • You might have to scroll to find this.
  5. Choose what you want to do:
    • Choose a photo from your gallery: Tap Folder.
    • Take a new photo: Tap Camera, then tap the shutter.

Add photos from Google Photos or your Gallery app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet,  open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
  3. To see more info, at the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  4. Scroll to the right. Tap Photos.
  5. Tap Add photo.
  6. Choose what you want to do:
    • Choose a photo from your gallery: Tap Folder.
    • Take a new photo: Tap Camera, then tap the shutter.

Delete photos in the Google Maps app

Photos you delete from Google Maps are also automatically deleted from Google Search.

Mark a photo as helpful or unhelpful

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
  3. At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  4. At the top, tap Photos.
  5. Choose from the following:

Tips:

  • To remove your vote, tap the icon again.
  • Google shares photos marked as helpful with more people and photos marked as unhelpful with fewer people.
  • If the photo is illegal or violates Google policy, you can report it.

Report a photo on Google Maps

If you find something in Google Maps that is inappropriate or inaccurate, you can let us know.

  1. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
  2. Scroll to the photos section, then select the photo you want to report.
  3. In the upper right, tap Report Report .
  4. Select or write the reason for your report.
